Alanic Kaftan – 8th–10th Century
This Alanic kaftan is a faithful reconstruction based on an artifact discovered in Nizhny Arkhyz in the North Caucasus. It dates back to the 8th–10th century, the era of the Khazar Khaganate.
Materials and Craftsmanship
The kaftan is sewn from bleached linen, and its decorative elements are crafted from silk samite.
-
Decoration: Samite adorns the "double cuffs," the collar, and three pairs of fasteners.
-
Construction: Internal seams are machine-sewn, while all visible and external seams are hand-finished with linen and silk thread, ensuring an authentic appearance and durability.
-
Options: Several silk pattern options are available for you to choose from (previews can be found in the last photo).
Customization
In the "garment length" option, please provide the desired length of the finished kaftan in centimeters or inches (e.g., 120 cm / 47 in).
Note: Historically, Alanic kaftans should reach at least below the knee.
