This set of pouch fittings comes from Grave 154 in Birka, Sweden, and is dated to the 9th-10th century. Pouches were small, decorated bags worn on the belt. Their decorative style likely has Eastern origins and arrived in Europe with the migration of nomads. Many analogies and similar fittings have been found in various parts of Eastern and Central Europe (mainly Hungary), as well as in major trading centers like Birka.

Thanks to the abundance of archaeological and iconographic material, including very well-preserved examples where the leather part of the bag also survived, we are able to faithfully reproduce these items.

Set Composition and Measurements

The set consists of cast brass fittings and includes:

Central openwork rosette: 30×25 mm / strap slot: 10×14 mm
4 decorative side star-shaped fittings: 28×28 mm
10 belt plates (fittings): 12×15 mm
1 strap end: 12x35 mm
One element through which the strap passes (loop/slider)
