Silk Fatimid hat, Abbasid, Arabic, islamic cap

This exceptional cap was reconstructed based on archaeological finds from Egypt, the famous artifact from the MET Museum, and early medieval iconography. According to historical sources, caps of this style were worn in Islamic culture from the 8th to the 12th century.

The cap is made of silk (samit or brocade to chose from), lined with linen, and filled with sheep felt. Following the construction of historical specimens, it is stiffened with paper.

The entire piece is hand-quilted.
