Zupan (Żupan) – 16th-18th Century
The Żupan, the Hungarian "doloman's" equivalent, was a fundamental and widespread garment worn from the 16th to the 18th century, especially in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. We sew it based on historical Żupan finds and iconography from Poland. The Żupan is perfect for 16th-18th century historical reenactments and LARPs.
Materials and Craftsmanship
The Żupan is made from high-quality 100% wool fabric and lined with 100% silk. It fastens with 20 tin buttons and its sleeves with 5 tin buttons - You can also choose from soldered, brass or silver-plated buttons. Internal seams are machine-sewn, while all visible and external seams are hand-finished.
Optionally, the edges of the Żupan can be decorated with a cord imitating silk (a blend of cotton and viscose), as shown in the pictures.
Color Options and Collar Cut
We offer the Żupan in various color combinations consistent with historical fashion (you can find a preview in the last picture).
You can also choose the collar cut:
- Raised collar: characteristic of early 17th-century fashion (visible in the pictures).
- Standard collar: more versatile, suitable for the 16th-18th century period.
Ordering and Lead Time
The lead time is up to 3 months. This period is due to each garment being personally sewn by us to order, tailored to your preferences and size.
For the "cloth length" option, please provide the desired length of the finished Żupan, adjusted to your height (in cm or inches, e.g., 120 cm/47 in). If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!
Why choose our Żupan?
Choosing the ideal outfit for reenactment is an important decision, and we understand you want to be sure you're investing in a top-quality product. Our Żupan isn't just a piece of clothing; it's a piece of history that will come alive in your hands.
